Gyptian 'Nah Let Go' video

Gyptian follows up the surprise summer smash single of 2010 with Nah Let Go Better follow up than I anticipated. Heard this back in about May, and think it sounds like them songs that go down well in west African clubs like Goldcoast in Brixton. Video is much better than Hold You. Ras Kassa and Jay Will do a lot (bun out the Yanks). I have never seen one of those cars in my 11 trips to Jamaica. So will it live up to or eclipse Hold You? Not a chance in hell. Should keep him going booking wise though. Good luck to him, proving there is still a lovers side to dancehall. I would have preferred a re-release/proper release of Beautiful Lady though Funny how it's always the hardcore fans least expect that get the most success. Who saw Sean Paul, Damian Marley, Serani or Gyptian as the ones to represent dancehall commercially? Or even Wayne Wonder and Cham? After all that time in the biz, he was probably at his lowest in those times. Even going back to Chaka Demus & Pliers. Only Shabb...

Interview: Chino and Laden - Big Ship

Introducing to you, two of the hottest young talents in the Dancehall business; Laden, a finalist in Digicel's Rising Star (Jamaica's equivalent to American Idol/X-Factor) and Chino, son of reggae legend Freddie McGregor and brother to serial hitmaker Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor. With both artists popularity rapidly rising both on radio and in the dances from uptown to he ghettos, you'd be hard pushed to find two artists with clean songs making as much noise. Marvin Sparks caught up with the two Big Ship stars Laden and Chino whilst on a tour with Freddie McGregor to discuss the effect the radio ban in Jamaica has made on their careers, if it's harder to make it without controversy and Michael Jackson's passing. Chino speaks on working relationship with brother Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, the possible adverse affect of carrying the McGregor name and the beef with Munga. Laden explains why he took the reality show route, linking with the Big Ship camp and ...

Trippple Bounce riddim

No typo in the title. Stephen McGregor has fully made me anticipate summer in Jamaica! This new riddim entitled Triple Bounce as well as the one I posted before, Fitness, are going to be the riddims for Summer 09. Can't wait to hear what other producers such as Shane Brown, DASECA and others have got lined up. This is produced by Zip Jock Chrome from Jamaican radio station Zip 103 (they don't have DJs, they have ZJs). This tune is mad!!! Mavado has got a hit on his hands. The other big piece is Kartel. Same melody as Time So Hard on Boasty riddim but still a big'un to me This tune will dun dances. Kartel kiiiiills this Voicemail return to the dance tunes. Can't remember the last one they did since RDX came and cornered off that piece of the meerkat... sorry market. Sounds the same init? Here is a vid of how to do the Nuh Behaviour Not feelin that dance if I'm honest. Hence why I haven't posted it before. Riddim in the video is Movie Star if you wanted to know. T...

Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor's Fitness riddim

Produced by Stephen "Di Genius" McGregor, this is sure to be one of the elite riddims for Summer 09. I feel he made mistake last year by releasing Day Rave too late for ATI/RTI. Should still be fresh for then! As many fans of the young hitmaker will know, there is usually a thought process behind naming his riddims. This is called the Fitness and sounds similar to the Work Out from last year which featured Mavado's 'Inna Di Car Back' amongst others. Geddit? Both futuristic dancehall (I think that's what they call it) merging dancehall artists with dance/housey 4x4 music. I wonder if Sean Paul will have a piece for his album. If I were him this would have been the canvas for my first single. Features pieces from Mavado, Beenie Man, Vybz Cartel, Elephant Man and many more but my pick is Aidonia. Most probably won't ring off in UK 'cos people seem to be slow on Aidonia and usually judge songs more on the name of artist than quality of song. Yes, 100 Stab ...
