Genesis riddim - it's a new day in dancehall

Billed as a new beginning in dancehall, the Daseca ( Da vid Harrisingh, Craig ' Se rani' Marsh C r a ig Harrisingh) produced riddim, aptly titled Genesis (first book in the Bible, you know), has broken the traditional format of promoting songs distributed by email blasts to soundsystems, DJs, dem friend... Despite its success in gaining buzz, email blasts of download links usually lead to the whole riddim hitting popular forums used by anyone which meant less records sold. However, the Alliance camp decided on a relase date of 23rd March (today), sent out a press release sighting their intentions of a new day to blogs and forums, and selected leading radio DJ's in popular regions to premiere the riddim; first stop Jabba and Bobby Konders Hot 97 show in New York, followed by Robbo Ranx's 1Xtra show, in Jamaica where I think Johnny Kool on Kool FM played it. I'm not sure who else debuted it, but I'm sure Danny Pepperseed must have. This strategy seems to have had ...

Wasn't Gonna Blog This But...

Heard this tune last month, but didn't blog it in fear of lobbyists pickiting my blog. However, I've changed my mind This Munga tune sell the r**s off! Voiced on Karim's Duffle Bag riddim. Riddim also features Busy Signal's 'Question' how his money went so fast. He isn't being rude or 'phobic, he's just setting the law according to him. Also feelin this 10 Long 10 Strong riddim Leftside is a big jugglin tune, Bugle is probably my favourite on there. Kartel is a good one too. Who says they don't make what's commonly known as dancehall sounding anymore?

DJ Frass - Survivor + Clearance riddims

Feeling this riddim. Produced by Mavado's new DJ Frass (the one since he booted Foota Hype). Einstein and Flexxx have improved dramatically. Flexxx has learnt to structure his bars (used to ram too many words), 'Stein has put that rapid-fire style to bed, also switched the gun talk for talk average Joe can relate to. Mavado kills it with yet another ghetto gospel. Jury's still out on Chase Cross for me. Gully Squad are gonna be a tough match for Vybz Kartel's Gaza/Portmore Empire in 010. Let's see how many start screaming Gully again Clearance riddim is hard as well. Came out from before summer, is a mesh of dancehall x hip-hop, but so what? 'twas killing it in Jamaica. Mavado's piece being the strongest with Chase Cross in a close second. Bounty Killer drew for the big ting dem. Even Munga managed to pull one out of the bag here. It sounds better sped up For the video:

Jah Cure - Never Find [video]

Featured a video for the medley of this Don Carleon produced riddim, Changes (click for medley video) , a few months ago. It was missing the Jah Cure and Gentleman versions - 2 of which based on quality I thought should have been on there. Well as I suspected, it was due to them both being on bigger labels with their individual projects going on. SoBe have decided to release it as the follow up to Call On Me and thank Jah(ova) for that. Click to see what happened when I interviewd Jah Cure in for the release of his first album on the outside entitled Universal Cure: Marvin Sparks interviews Jah Cure Love this tune. They say Reggae is dead but there are wonderful Roots Reggae riddims being produced. R&B lacks substance, so this is what I use to replace it. If Jah Cure was still incarcerated this would have been a bigger song by now. It definitely deserves to be.

Trippple Bounce riddim

No typo in the title. Stephen McGregor has fully made me anticipate summer in Jamaica! This new riddim entitled Triple Bounce as well as the one I posted before, Fitness, are going to be the riddims for Summer 09. Can't wait to hear what other producers such as Shane Brown, DASECA and others have got lined up. This is produced by Zip Jock Chrome from Jamaican radio station Zip 103 (they don't have DJs, they have ZJs). This tune is mad!!! Mavado has got a hit on his hands. The other big piece is Kartel. Same melody as Time So Hard on Boasty riddim but still a big'un to me This tune will dun dances. Kartel kiiiiills this Voicemail return to the dance tunes. Can't remember the last one they did since RDX came and cornered off that piece of the meerkat... sorry market. Sounds the same init? Here is a vid of how to do the Nuh Behaviour Not feelin that dance if I'm honest. Hence why I haven't posted it before. Riddim in the video is Movie Star if you wanted to know. T...
