I love the old days so each Friday I do a little section called FlashBack Friday (click for previous episodes) - as you could most probably tell. For previous episodes click here As you will all know by now, Stephen Gately died on Sunday Via BBC News Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has died suddenly at the age of 33 while on holiday in Majorca. Spanish police said he died on Saturday and that there were no signs of suspicious circumstances. But the cause of death is not yet known. Gately was on holiday with his long-term partner Andy Cowles. His bandmates said they were “completely devastated” and are now travelling to Majorca. For anyone new to FlashBack Friday , it is a time to draw for the archives in my brain in hope of bringing a smile to your face as we reminisce *cue "Awwwww"'s*. Out here for my 90s kids (term "80's baby" gets political). Black History Month, so what better way than dedicate today to a time when we had good black comdey shows written by black people. I don't know which wise-guy let black people write comedies back then because in the 00's that isn't the case. To all my non-black's I hope you can appreciate this post without thinking it's racist or not for you. 'Racist' seems to be any easy word to throw around when a race is stated (eg. MO B O, B ET...), but I never coined the term, black comedies was named by the broadcasters. Todays Flashback Friday (click for previous episodes) is dedicated to iconic advert songs. A time when adverts made me sing-a-long and remember the brand through their evil, eeevil subliminal messages sent using infectious melodies combined with quick-and-easy-to-learn lyrics. Sadly we now hear such lyrical dexterity on them levels by the likes of Hip-hop's elite (damn shame). I'm sure there was more emphasis on songs back then. Disclaimer: some may have been made + initially aired in the 80s, but I'm sure they were shown during the 90s. Some songs weren't exclusive to the brand, but were associated with said brand. Sooooooooooo after a hiatus the Flashback Fridays make a return. I apologise for missing out the previous 3 weeks, had other stuff doing. Today's topic is about popular old skool kicks/creps/boogs/and any other word that I can't remember to call trainers or as the Yanks say "Sneakers" circa 1999-2002 which cost £110. Back in these days, trainers were all about ostentatious designs whereas nowadays its simple designs and if you wanna push the boat out get loads of colours. Back in these days trainers would cost more than your whole outfit. The spoilt kids had them (£75 I think) cos' no one was old enough to work legitamately so them kids were usually envied. Those with more than 2 pairs got attention from the budding gold digger. Back in them days parents bought one pair of trainers and you wouldn't get another until they were written off and then some.
