Urban Brit-Pop success influenced by Kylie?

Howdy! Now you're most probably looking at the title crazy like "How the hell you work that one out?" Some are probably thinking "Com'on son?! This is some bs" but hear me out. Today I was listening to my iPod when Kylie (the Aussie from Ramsay Street with the illusion pert bum) came on the dance/pop playlist. Yes, you read correctly. First song that came on was the 2000 chart-topping classic Can't Get You Out Of My Head. As a listened, I ran the choreography through my head - yes I know some of the dance steps in the chorus (blame my diet of music television) - when I realised there was a popular UK Funky dance in there. Look @ 1:49 Does this not look like this popular dance?* Excuse the lite version. Someone needs to re-dub the original tunes over the video. Credit my blog somewhere on the video in the pop-up tags! Ok, but on a more serious note, the next tune was Kylie (yes again) Come Into My World. Tune is mad under-rated! Skankers. & Love At F...

FlashBack Friday is a series where I reminisce. For previous episodes click here . R. B. N. A. (Real Badman Never Afraid) is me admitting to liking things people wouldn't usually admit to, but I'm never scared. For previous episodes click here As you will all know by now, Stephen Gately died on Sunday Via BBC News Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has died suddenly at the age of 33 while on holiday in Majorca. Spanish police said he died on Saturday and that there were no signs of suspicious circumstances. But the cause of death is not yet known. Gately was on holiday with his long-term partner Andy Cowles. His bandmates said they were “completely devastated” and are now travelling to Majorca. The Irish band had six UK number one hits in the 1990s and reformed in 2007. RIP that man. Thought I'd be better off turning this into a Friday Flashback x Real Badman Never Afraid (R. B. N. A) post. Would have posted this on the day but had a change of heart. It would have been inappropr...

Chipmunk interview for Diamond Rings

To mark the release of his debut single Diamond Rings released by Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment (out now), PyroRadio.com caught up with Chipmunk to talk about deciding to complete college, haters and why he feel he’s the best lyricist to being a fan of The Saturdays – well Rochelle! Pyroradio.com: Congratulations on finishing college. Why did you decide to finish college whilst having quite a successful music career? Chipmunk: I’m just not a quitter. I put my all into everything I do. If I would have quit it would have only been because I signed a deal and I didn’t really want to feel like that was the reason why or if my music career was getting too much for me. I just stuck at it. Pyroradio.com: How did the other students react to you being a famous artist? Chipmunk: It was my hometown, so everyone knew me from before the whole music thing. Pyroradio.com: So you didn’t receive much hate or unnecessary attention? Chipmunk: Not even so much hate from people in my hometown but now ...

Kevin Rudolf interview

The name Kevin Rudolf may not ring a bell, but if you’ve heard the Rock guitar chops and solo’s on Timbaland productions, chances are Kevin Rudolf is the man behind them. Not many musicians can say they’ve worked with legends, but he was enlisted as guitarist on smash-hits ranging from Lil’ Kim ‘The Jump Off’ to Nelly Futardo’s ‘Say It Right’, and Timbaland’s ‘Scream’ - featuring Nicole Scherzinger and Keri Hilson. The New York-raised musician stepped out of the role as guitarist to produce tracks for down south rappers David Banner and Lil’ Flip. But his talent doesn’t finish at guitarist and producer; ‘Let It Rock’ is the debut single by Miami-based singer-songwriter and features man-of-the-moment and label mate Lil’ Wayne. Having already seen success in the US - peaking at #5 on the Billboard 100 singles as well as being re-named ‘Let Philly Rock’ and adopted by World Series winning baseball team Philadelphia Phillies - this Rock/Pop x Hip-Hop genre-bending single is lifted from the...

That’s it really, I’ve been working hard and living life really and life doing its thing. Marvin Sparks : You forgot one important event; congratula...

Ironik - Stay With Me - Interview

Marvin Sparks caught up with 20 year-old DJ/MC/Producer DJ Ironik to ask about the forthcoming album, his views on the crime amongst teens, Internet success, the smash-hit single ‘Stay With Me’ and more. Marvin Sparks: How’s life been treating you now that you’re on TV, and face is getting popular? Ironik: I can’t really walk down the street much [laughs]. Just being recognised on the streets loads. People asking for pictures and autographs. It has been more hectic. People that didn’t wanna know before wanna know now, but that’s all good though. It’s just the way it is.” Marvin Sparks: How did you first get into the music game? Ironik: I started out when I was about 13 as a DJ. My uncle owns ‘Twice As Nice,’ they’re a big promotional company. The Old Skool Garage and Jungle was always around me ‘cause of ‘Twice As Nice,’ my Mum and Dad were always listening to it, so I guess that’s how I got into and DJ’in. I was DJ’in from about 13 to 15 and that’s when I started producing for loads ...
