Pre-fight hype: Audley Harrison vs David Haye

Now, I really wasn't going to do this. Why? Because I'm a big fan of both. And the small fact that both times I have done this I have predicted the result correctly. I haven't got much time to do this before XFactor followed by the fight so I will be rushing it. When this fight was announced, many people questioned whether Harrison is worthy. Hate him? Think he's waste? One-sided affair? Doesn't deserve the world title shot? Forget all of that, this is the most intriguing and talked about heavyweight fight in years. Biggest domestic heavyweight fight in over 15 years. Sold out a few days after release, in line to draw big pay-per-view buys for Sky Sports. I'm gonna breakdown the fighters as I see it... David Haye's strengths "Speed kills" is a common phrase, especially in boxing. Very rarely fails when you are extremely fast. Combine that with genuine one punch knock out power then surely that is the route to victory every single time. He also has ...

Mayweather and Mosley face off

For all my boxing fans out there, this is a great watch. Hosted by Max Kellerman, aka the guy that cut Mayweather's post-fight (vs. Marquez the blown up lightweight) interview short when Mosley confronted Mayweather. Should be a good old-fashioned grudge match. Two men with a lot to prove; has Shane Mosely still got it? Has Mayweather made a career off fighting stiffs throughout his career? being the 2 questions which will ultimately be answered on the night. As of now, I'm saying Mayweather, with Shane having a punchers chance. Gotta love how Americans throw on these promotional programs for boxing. Much better than the short-lived The Contender, which as good as it was, in all honesty the fighters were never going to amount to antyhing, much less a real contender. I'll probably do another one of my prediction posts closer to the fight. So far I'm 2 for 2; Mayweather vs Marquez and Haye vs. Valuev .

David (Haye) vs. Goliath (Valuev)

Something's telling me not to do this post, because part of me feels like I will be wrong. It's never stopped me before so here goes... Let's be honest, we haven't cared about heavyweights in a while. A slew of sub-par champions has meant interest dwindled in what was Boxing's bread winning division. From about 2004 onwards, the light weights reign as the most exciting and generate the big PPV money. Another change has been the star-studded USA who ruled the heavyweight division since as far as I can remember, now have no world champions. All of the champions are either Russian or from Ukraine (Kiltschko brothers) and reside/fight out of Germany. Not exactly the glamour we've come to expect. To be frank: Heavyweight boxing is dead! However, tonight's fight is the Heavyweight divisions most mouth-watering contest since Heavyweight #1 Lennox Lewis fought late replacement and soon-to-become (at the time0 #1 Vitali Klitschko in 2003. Blimey, 6 years ago. 6ft 2, ...

Mayweather vs Marquez - review(ish)

Not really a review. If you saw the fight you saw it was a one-sided shut out on the cards. As I predicted in the previous blog post Mayweather won on points. Didn't turn out to be as competitive as one would have hoped but such is life. Marquez was valiant in effort but came up short, mainly down to the lightening quick Mayweather in both attack and defence. Sky's commentary team of Adam Smith and Jim Watt should be told they are never to perform indecent acts on TV. The fellatio was a lot! Now to the real story. I was mistaken when I said Marquez was a 3-weight world champion, he's only 2. He jumped up 2 weight classes ( from Lightweight bypassing Light-Welter to fight at Welter) to fight Mayweather at a weight Marquez had never fought at when the two met last night - yes TWO weights to fight the man ranked pound-4-pound best in the world. So taking that into consideration, why was Mayweather overweight? Why did he have to pay a $600k fine for being overweight? Well we do...

Mayweather vs. Marquez

Music isn't my only love; another is boxing. Ideally I would have updated this from Tuesday so it would have been in easily digestible bites but I forgot. This is the 5th series (if I recall correctly)of the popular 24/7 filmed 4 weeks leading up to the big fight. 24/7 provides the viewer with an in-depth look into the gruelling training sessions, reveals both fighters personality outside of the fearless bastard they are in the ring, relationships in the training camp and family, and everything in between. Shot and edited immaculately, it almost looks like a movie. If you can't tell it's fair to say I love these shows. Great way to build profiles and (or in my case add to) anticipation for the showdown as well as provide casual arm chair fans a look at the smaller named fighter. 24/7 played a big role in making Mayweather the big marquee name he is now. At the top of the century 'Money' May was struggling to attract big pay days he felt he deserved. Fast forward to ...
